We made it to Wels and are now trying to force our eye lids to stay open until bed time tonight. We went to Detroit Friday evening and left early Saturday morning en route to Atlanta. The kids did just fantastic. Even with a little turbulence they both decided they love to fly.
We got through the 6 hour layover in ATL and boarded the plane for Munich at 4:30. Thank God for touch screen computers and an ample movie selections. Kids were great on this flight (9 hours!) and slept about half the time, I even got a couple hours in.
Ron picked us up in Munich and we drove two hours to Wels! The apartment is super cute with a small kitchen, dining, living space. A bathroom and laundry room where the shower is located, and one bedroom where we will all sleep (2 queen size beds).
It's super hot here and really beautiful. Once I got everything unpacked we headed out on foot. Ron walked us around a large part of the downtown area. Everything is cobble stone and very close together. It's so different. There is a very nice bus system I plan to use when we aren't able to walk somewhere. There is a channel and river that run through the city and we walked along both. We ended our day watching the kids play at a park and enjoying my first Austrian beer, a cross between beer and lemonade called a Radler, super tasty! We then treated the kids to some gelato and headed back to the apartment.
Tomorrow is a Holiday in Austria so Ron will have the day off. I hope to get myself more acclimated and do some more exploring! The kids and Ron found a park super close to our apartment so I want to head there for sure. Below are some photos of the flights, our home, and some quick pics of the city. :)
